Meeting Russia: Day 2
On December 2, the second day of the Meeting Russia Program took place. The following topics were on agenda: Foreign Policy Official Talk, Conflict Zone and Finding a Way in Cyberspace.

Within the framework of the first topic, the Meeting Russia participants had the privilege to discuss Russian foreign policy issues with Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The top official spoke on the importance of Russia-India and Russia-Chinese relations taking into account the current complex situation in Asia. The relations between Russia, the United States and Europe were considered from the perspective of politicians and citizens from both states. A number of existing and thriving bureaucracy-related problems complicate the relations between the two countries. However, Russia is always willing to build a respectful and attentive dialogue and promote partnership not only on political but on civil society and cultural levels.
The next session was dedicated to the Russian role in global and local conflicts. The speakers were Russian political analyst Gevorg Mirzayan and Senior Visiting Fellow at the Global Policy Institute Zach Paikin. They described the current geopolitical situation in the post-Soviet space and in the Balkans. The experts particularly focused on the Caucasus, Belarus and Ukraine. For many of these countries, presidential elections became a turning point for their inner and outer policies. The poor state of overall security and the attempts of Russia to stabilize ongoing conflicts were discussed by the speakers as well.
The last session of Meeting Russia was attended by Consultant at the PIR Center, Senior Expert at the Center for Advanced Governance Oleg Shakirov, Special Сorrespondent at Kommersant Elena Chernenko and Consultant at the PIR Center Oleg Demidov.
The speakers discussed Russian cyberspace policy in connection with the current state of law system regulating this sphere. The IT-specialists stressed that the process of forced digitalization initiated after the outburst of the COVID-19 pandemic provoked a series of sophisticated cybercrimes. Today, it is necessary to establish a universal institution for the protection of cyberspace actors by applying a fixed set of rules and regulations.

December 3 is the third and the last day of 2020 Meeting Russia. The main topics are Modern Russia and Economy Pulse.
