Ulyanovsk will host young experts from Europe, Canada and the USA
From July 27th-30th, 2021, the first reunion of young foreign leaders will take place in Ulyanovsk as part of the public diplomacy project "Meeting Russia". The project introduces foreign participants to modern Russia and the political and cultural structure of the regions. The Ulyanovsk Region is the first venue outside the capital to host such a meeting.
Meeting Russia is an annual public diplomacy program for a foreign audience, designed for young political scientists, diplomats, journalists, and activists from Europe and America. The Meeting Russia program is the flagship project of Creative Diplomacy (PICREADI), a Russian NGO that is actively developing the field of Russian public diplomacy and soft power. Every year, the Creative Diplomacy team facilitates Russian - and English-language discussions involving leading Russian international experts and a delegation of 25 foreign participants who want to get acquainted with the culture and modern development of Russia.

The Meeting Russia program has been implemented since 2017 consistently expanding the number of graduates and partners of the project. In the summer of 2021, it was decided to hold the first reunion of former graduates of the project – to show them not only the realities of the capital but also the modern face of Russian regions. Ulyanovsk was chosen as the place to host the first reunion of graduates: a city on the Volga River with a rich historical past and original cultural development.
This is the first meeting of graduates and we wanted to hold it outside the capital in order to show the participants what modern Russia looks like outside Moscow. The choice fell upon the Ulyanovsk region because we saw that over the past couple of years a good platform for public diplomacy has been created in this region since many significant international events and forums have been held here. We have partners in the region that understands the importance of international cooperation through public diplomacy. Of course, it is always easier to do a project with partners, so we thought that it was a great opportunity to show the region and work with the team within the Meeting Russia Reunion project,
said Natalia Burlinova, president of the Center for Support and Development of Public Initiatives "Creative Diplomacy"
Within the framework of the Meeting Russia Reunion project, the foreign delegation will have several expert discussions about modern international relations, get acquainted with the structure of the Russian regional power system and the ULNANOTECH investment cluster. Among the Russian guests and speakers of the event are Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Andrey Kortunov, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council, and Ivan Timofeev, Director of Programs of the Russian International Affairs Council.

"We are pleased to host such a unique English-language event in Ulyanovsk, which is the only one in Russia for international relations specialists of this level. We will show them our investment attractiveness and introduce them to the leaders of the region. All the invited speakers are high-level professionals who will share their opinions with the participants and answer their questions," commented Diana Kovela, Deputy Director of the "Ulyanovsk – Capital of Culture" Foundation.

The program is carried out at the expense of a grant from the Presidential Grants Foundation for the Development of Civil Society in partnership with the "Ulyanovsk – Capital of Culture" Foundation.
