On July 25 – 28 Saint Petersburg hosts "Days of African Culture and Cinema" – an event on the cultural programme of Summit Russia - Africa 2023.
Moscow is about to open a Museum of Culture of African Countries as an affiliated structure of the State Museum of Oriental Art. The new Museum will be represented during Summit Russia - Africa 2023 in Saint Petersburg.
On July 25 – 28 Saint Petersburg hosts "Days of African Culture and Cinema" – an event on the cultural programme of Summit Russia - Africa 2023.

☑️ May 24 – Barbara Rwodzi, Zimbabwe's Deputy Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality, gave an interview to TV BRICS in which she spoke of her visit to Moscow and called Russia "a crucial partner" for Zimbabwe.
☑️ May 25 – Vladimir Putin congratulated the leaders of the continent countries on Africa Day and expressed confidence that the second Russia-Africa summit, to be held in July in St Petersburg, would allow Russia to expand cooperation with African states in political, trade, scientific and technical fields.
☑️ May 26 – St Petersburg office of TASS news agency held a conference dedicated to prominent African leaders. The St Petersburg State University and Center for Socioeconomic and Geopolitical Studies presented their joint analysis "Rating of Leaders of African Countries". [in Russian]
☑️ May 26 – Abshir Omar Jama, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, was in Moscow on a working visit and held talks with Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Energy and food security of African countries was one of the issues discussed.
☑️ May 29 – Sergey Lavrov arrived in Kenya with a working visit. - Russian scholars of international relations took part in a series of expert meetings at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). - On May 24-25 Moscow hosted II Eurasian Economic Forum.
The Forum was attended by high-ranking officials, presidents, ministers, heads of international organizations and associations, diplomats, business representatives.

Cause: a legislative initiative by the "People's Power" movement to introduce a bill "On Foreign Agents" that would oblige politicians, NGOs, and mass media operating in Georgia to declare their sources of financing; the bill is analogous with the 1938 American Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
Events: "Maidan"-style protest demonstrations.
Outcome: withdrawal of the bill; satisfaction of protesters' claims.

- The EU approves the 7th package of anti-Russian sanctions (see the Official Journal of the European Union. This time, the "restrictive measures in view of Russia's actions destabilizing situation in Ukraine" are aimed, among other organizations, against Rossotrudnichestvo, "Russkiy Mir" Foundation, and Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, which creates a precedent of sanctions against Russian cultural and public diplomacy institutions.

Application form (in Russian) - On May 20th President Putin signed Decree on establishing a new Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, namely the Department of International Cooperation in Culture, Science, Education, and Sport. The Department will work out Russia's policy of humanitarian cooperation, among other things. The Decree came into force on July 1st, 2022.
- On June 28 the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO) opened the V Youth Session of Primakov Readings. This time the main topic is Global Security: Looking for Dialogue Opportunities.
- On June 27, International Media Group "Rossiya Segodnya" ("Russia Today") hosted a round table following the results of the 14th BRICS Summit. Kirill Babaev, Acting Director of the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IFES RAS), Victoria Panova, Vice-Rector for International Relations of the Higher School of Economics, Yaroslav Lissovolik, Programme Director of the Valdai Discussion Club, were among the participants.
- On June 27 student conference "The Russian-African Youth Initiative" started. During the event, African students studying in Russia will learn about the main institutions of science and public diplomacy and opportunities for the implementation of bilateral Russian-African projects. The initiators of the conference are the ANO Consensus, the Gorchakov Fund, RUDN University, and the Foreign Students Association of Russia.

- Saint Petersburg hosts the Interparliamentary Youth Forum for the CIS Member States from June 9th through June 10th. The event welcomes members of youth parliamentary delegations of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the CIS, young members of parliament, and leaders of youth organizations.
- International Assembly «Caspian Dialogue» took place on May 11th with the support of the Gorchakov Fund. The hybrid event gathered 220 participants from 7 countries.
- The conference hall of the MGIMO University hosts an expert discussion with Maxim Suchkov, Director of the Institute for International Studies (MGIMO), and Ivan Safranchuck, Director of the Center for Eurasian Studies (MGIMO), at 4 p.m. on May 16th. The subjects of the expert discussion are the strategy of the USA and NATO in the Ukrainian crisis and the impact of the strategy implementation on Russia-US relations.

- The Center for Advanced American Studies at MGIMO University has hosted the international seminar «US-Russian Strategic Relations After the Geneva Summit». The meeting was held on July 8th and brought together Russian and foreign experts from 9 research centers and corporations.
- From 7 to 10 July, within Sochi Dialogue the conference "Dialogues on Genomics: best practices of laboratories of the Russian Federation and Europe" took place. The three-day international seminar was held with the participation of research teams from Russia, Austria, Germany, and France.
- Until July 5, with the support of the Gorchakov Foundation, applications are open for the "Building Powerful Youth" conference. The conference will provide an opportunity for foreign applicants to learn more about the possibilities of admission to Russian universities and further career development in Russia.
- The Russian Council on International Affairs has published an analytical article "Do Russian universities need electronic internationalization of scientific activity?" dedicated to the phenomenon of the scientific brand of universities. The author of the article is Olga Bakumenko, a leading analyst at the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg.
- The head of Russian House Yevgeny Primakov has announced the launch of the humanitarian project "Mission "Dobro". The project in cooperation with the Russian Humanitarian Mission will be aimed at the implementation of social projects by Russian volunteers abroad.

- The Russian journalist and creator of the YouTube channel "Redakciya (Editorial Office)" Alexey Pivovarov has released a video "The USSR-USA teleconference has ended the Cold War", dedicated to the public diplomacy of the two states in the 1980s. The video is available in the Russian language with English subtitles.
- Middlebury Institute for International Studies (USA) has released "the Ambassador Series" which is a collection of video interviews with 8 American diplomats and former US ambassadors to the USSR and the Russian Federation. The series analyzes the development of Russian-American cooperation and relations between two countries in the modern period.
- On May 19, with the support of the RIAC, an online meeting of the Advisory Board of the "Dialogue Europe-Russia" Forum was held. The main topic of the meeting was cooperation between the EU and Russia in the field of energy and green economy.
- On May 20-21, an international conference "Turkey, Russia and the West: What are the stakes in Syria and the Eastern Mediterranean?" was held. The expert meeting was hosted by the German Institute for International Relations and Security (SWP) in partnership with the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia (FPRI).
- The head of "Russian House" Yevgeny Primakov has led the program committee of the forum "Russia-Africa: What's Next?". The forum will take place in October 2021 at the MGIMO University.
- On April 27-29, The Council for Foreign and Defense Policy (SWAP) launched the project "Managing the International Crisis in the Context of Global Uncertainty". The project is implemented in cooperation with the National Research University Higher School of Economics and the Center for Liberal Strategies (Sofia, Bulgaria) with the support of the Russian Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The aim of the project is to develop long-term contacts between representatives of Russia and partner countries.
- The fifth seminar of the Meeting Russia Online Discussion Club was held on April 27th, 2021 in the format of a book discussion. The meeting was dedicated to the book "Is Russia fascist? Unraveling Propaganda East and West" by Dr. Marlene Laruelle, Research Professor at George Washington University (Washington DC).
- On April 28, a presentation of a new report of Creative Diplomacy and the RIAC entitled "Russian Public Diplomacy in the COVID-19 Era" was held. The expert report outlines the main trends of Russian public diplomacy for 2020.
- The Russian Foreign Ministry continues to make up a list of countries unfriendly to Russia. States from the list will be prohibited from hiring Russian citizens to work in their diplomatic missions.

- Center for Oriental Studies, International Relations and Public Diplomacy has announced the cancellation of the E.Primakov scientific research competition. The cancellation is associated with the lack of funding.
- The Chief Scientific Secretary of the Russian Academy of Sciences N.Dolgushkin has claimed an increase in the number of scientists and specialists leaving Russia by 5 times compared to 2012. According to him, almost 70 thousand specialists go abroad every year.
- The former head of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev has become the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Grigory Karasin, the former Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, was appointed as the Chair of the Committee.
- The international track of the open competition "Leaders of Russia" has started. The track is focused on attracting young foreign leaders and managers to the Russian Federation, as well as supporting the Russian-speaking community abroad.
- Representatives of the Higher School of Economics visited the first international industrial exhibition "INNOPROM. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan" and opened a Talent Revealing Center in Tashkent. The main goal of the Center is the development of international education and exchange of experience in the academic field.
- The famous Russian political scientist Marina Lebedeva published her book "Russian Public Diplomacy. From USSR to the Russian Federation" on April, 6. The book was published by Routledge Publishing House (UK).
- Based on the French think tank IFRI (French Institute of International Relations) the article "Russia's Niche Soft Power: Sources, Targets and Channels of Influence" was published. The author of the material is Marlène Laruelle, a Research Professor at George Washington University (USA) and Director of the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (IERES).
- In Uzbekistan, the second stage of the Russian program "Class!" has started. The project is aimed to improve the quality of teaching the Russian language. As part of the program, Russian specialists and teachers are sent to Uzbekistan to work in local schools.
- The American platform ZOOM cancelled the possibility of a corporate subscription for Russian government agencies and limited video calls for them to 40 minutes. The Russian authorities are planning to release a domestic analogue of the platform in 2022.
- On March, 30 the collegium of the Russian Foreign Ministry held a meeting dedicated to the main aspects of the activities of Rossotrudnichestvo ('Russian House'). The collegium discussed the implementation of tasks to promote Russian culture, science and education, as well as approaches to the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation of the Russian Federation. - Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has published a new article on China's development assistance strategy. The article was written by Kristen Cordell, a CFR international affairs fellow with the Project on Prosperity and Development at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC.
- Students from epidemiologically safe countries are allowed to return to Russia in order to continue their studies. The Government of the Russian Federation signed this order on March 16, 2021.
- The head of Russian House Evgeny Primakov has commented on his Facebook page on the progress of the admission campaign to Russian universities through the quotas of Rossotrudnichestvo. In 2021, 18 thousand foreign students will be able to enter Russian universities under quotas.
- On March 24, President of 'PICREADI - Creative Diplomacy' Natalia Burlinova took part in the Dialogue with Russia 2021 online school by Russian House in Brussels. - St.Peterburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) will be held 2-5 June 2021. The young leaders from over 100 countries will be invited. SPIEF is a unique event in the world of economics and acts as a leading global platform for members of the business community to meet and discuss the key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets, and the world as a whole.
- Former Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev was appointed Deputy President in the Presidential Council for Science and Education. The members of the Council were approved by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on March 15, 2021.
- Russian House in Brussels-Europe is launching an online educational project "Dialogue with Russia". The project is dedicated to public diplomacy and is designed for European young researchers in the field of international relations and Russian foreign policy. The Dialogue will be held 23-25 March 2021.
- 40 Russian universities have entered the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021. The rating is annually compiled by the world's largest international network of higher education Quacquarelli Symonds (UK) based on indicators in 51 disciplines in five subject areas. 16 Russian universities are presented in the world top 100.
- Kazan was included in the list of cities through which foreigners will be able to enter the Russian Federation with a new electronic visa. The updated rules for visiting Russia will be available for citizens of 52 countries after the removal of coronavirus restrictions.

- The independent consulting company Brand Finance (UK) has published the Global Soft Power Index 2021. The top-5 rating includes Germany, Japan, UK, Canada and Switzerland. Russia ranks 13th place out of 10.
- «Russian House» becomes a non-official name of Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation). At the same time, the Agency has noted that "Rossotrudnichestvo" remains the name for internal use and in the system of public authorities of the Russian Federation.
- Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) has cancelled the competition for the best projects in the field of fundamental scientific research. It was the largest grant competition in the country for research funding.
